Open Baffle (OB), or Open Back speakers (basically a shallow box without a back), have been part of the audio reproduction scene from the very beginning. The original "best available" sound reproduction technology. In fact, the Open Baffle format was the first dynamic speaker design able to provide practical play back of recorded music as well as live vocal reinforcement. However, the OB speaker format, (like all speaker formats that have followed it), has its virtues and weaknesses.
